In our classroom, we do a monthly challenge called "Survivor: Math." This challenge is to see which class (as a whole) best shows safety, organization, attentiveness, and respect. When a class has excelled in all four areas, they get a token for the day. At the end of the month, the class with the most tokens earns a PARTY!
Below are some more specific expecations we have in our classroom:
Students will:
- Be on time and prepared for class.
- Use class time wisely.
- Use all math tools (rulers, scissors, glue, computers, etc.) appropriately.
- Be respectful to themselves, each other, and property.
- USE COMMON SENSE!
In addition to the Survivor rewards, there must sometimes be consequences. For minor occurences, students will be given one warning before they are referred to the office. However, I reserve the right to remove a student from the classroom with no warning for major offenses.
Students are also expected to turn in assignments on the day that they are due. If it is not turned in during class, they may turn it in by the end of the day and receive 50% credit. Anything after 3:30 on the due date will automatically be recorded as a zero.
